Saturday, September 7th, we were honored to attend the Nashville Meet-up that Saskia put together!
It was a great afternoon as we were welcomed to a beautiful location in Nashville to join each other at The Fitting Room Studio owned and operated by Steve Berns.
The studio was set up in a way that would be comfortable for anyone to record in and the main room was large enough to handle a good size group of people.
Everyone mingled for a bit introducing themselves to each other and having just a great time talking and enjoying the moment.
Starting around 2pm, Saskia got us to sit down in a big circle and kicked off the meeting. Of course, she was the perfect host. We heard more of her life story and that helped set the tone of the day.
Sam Gay (who won the US competition) started the day off playing one of his songs and was backed up vocally by his wife Templeton Thompson.
Then Templeton shared one of her songs with Sam backing her up. A great duo and incredible songs were shared by them!
Right after that Sarah Peacock (a local independent artist and producer) played a song and then right after that Danni Nicholls (who is leading the TisT group in Austin Texas) shared one of hers. Such a lovely thing to have them present here in Nashville and taking the time to join us.
Billy T was next and shared an incredible song he performed with a masterfully guitar accompaniment. Amazing talent and learning more about his life. Then Jeff Maple shared a song that he recorded at a studio here in Nashville and of course gave us some great understanding of who he is and his pursuit in music. Roger Cook was next with a great humorous song and allowing us to light up and laugh! We asked his wife Julie to sing but she relented…maybe next time! I was last in line and after telling a bit of my story I ended up playing a song that was inspired by a Talent is Timeless monthly challenge. After hearing the great music of the day it just seemed right to play it even though I hadn’t played since I finished it months ago.
To end the day Saskia talked more about things involving TisT and then had Sarah and Danni end our time with a mini concert.
A great day with some great people! I’m hoping if this happens next year in Nashville, we will have more to join in. Talent is Timeless is a wonderful place to be encouraged and help us all to keep working on our Dreams.
Thank you again Saskia and those at TisT!
