Description

I met and fell in love with a piano entertainer in 1975. We dated for a year but then she relocated to Florida. Forty years later, I found her playing in a cocktail lounge once again!

Bio

I’m a 72-year-old retired law enforcement officer whose hobbies are creative writing and original music writing and recording. I played in a number of bands in Massachusetts from 1975 to 2003, and have published three CDs and three soft-cover books, and continue searching for inspiration to create more personal music and literary material!

Lyrics

If only you had told me those many years ago
Why you couldn’t love me, I had no way to know
You took me for granted, what else could I perceive
I couldn’t understand, I didn’t know what to believe
(one verse instrumental)
That remarkable feeling was passion at first sight
When I saw you performing up on the stage that night
It might have been wrong or even crazy back then
But I wish that I could love like that again, I wish that I could love like that again
(ch) You traveled on your way, and I journeyed on mine
Forty years since I’ve seen you is an awfully long time
Finding you now must be the strangest twist of fate
We have so much to talk about, it’ll never be too late
(one verse instrumental)
(ch) You spoke about your life; I reminisced about mine
Our stories of heartbreaks seem so intertwined
You’ve given me answers to all the questions I asked
It’s wonderful to finally know our friendship can last
I’m so glad you finally told me what happened long ago
And why you couldn’t love me ‘cause I had no way to know
It might have been wrong or even crazy back then
And I always wondered if I’d see you again
No matter where we go or where we have been
I wish that I could love like that again
I wish that I could love you once again
