Colder Than December
by Richard Hughes
Verse 1
Outside a songbird sings
His first song of the dayÂ
And a newborn ray of sun
Shines through my window paneÂ
It’s a silent Sunday morn
The kind made for sleepin in
But a breeze blows through this roomÂ
And feels like a chillin wind
Chorus
And it’s colder than DecemberÂ
Though I know it’s only FallÂ
Lord, it feels more like WinterÂ
With each night that you don’t call
The extra blanket on my bedÂ
It ain’t near enoughÂ
’ Cause it’s colder than DecemberÂ
Here without your loveÂ
Verse 2
Summers come and goneÂ
And southbound birds take flightÂ
You can feel the weather changin
With the chill that fills the nightÂ
And the clouds are rollin in
As the season disappears
Givin way to shorter daysÂ
And that lonesome time of yearÂ
( Repeat chorus)
