Colder Than December

by Richard Hughes

Verse 1

Outside a songbird sings

His first song of the day

And a newborn ray of sun

Shines through my window pane

It’s a silent Sunday morn

The kind made for sleepin in

But a breeze blows through this room

And feels like a chillin wind

Chorus

And it’s colder than December

Though I know it’s only Fall

Lord, it feels more like Winter

With each night that you don’t call

The extra blanket on my bed

It ain’t near enough

’ Cause it’s colder than December

Here without your love

Verse 2

Summers come and gone

And southbound birds take flight

You can feel the weather changin

With the chill that fills the night

And the clouds are rollin in

As the season disappears

Givin way to shorter days

And that lonesome time of year

( Repeat chorus)
