  1. Hi there! Happy New Year!

Is there a problem if a song submitted was written with another person, or at least that person is credited regardless of the extent of their involvement, would this mean the song cannot be considered for the contest, especially if said person is under 50. For example, I’ve credited my producer (who is in his late 30s) on some songs as his involvement in the musical arrangement was particularly important, to different extents, in the recorded evolution of those songs; however, the lyrics and music were in fact mine alone.

      1. Thank you Saskia. The second song I wish to enter is in fact co-credited, through CDBaby, to my producer. This was largely a courtesy on my part, given his great contribution recording-wise, and the lyrics and music were all created by myself. He is 37, so still a long way from 50. But in the competition submission form it says: “Please confirm that your Co-writer(s) will be 50 or over by 31 March 2025”, and we’re provided with a “yes”, but no other way to explain the situation. Should I write that explanation in the box for his name?

    1. Hi Jane, no not at the moment. I’m not sure what we would call that – parody category? Sample category? Co-writes are very welcome, but not in the sense of taking a song that already exists and changing chords/lyrics. If it’s a popular request we can include it next time around though 🙂

      1. I believe it would fall into ‘co- write’ category- or ‘cover’ – UK song competition has just recently added this category- hope thats helpful – thank u for your reply ✨🎵✨
